Please request that your home country physician complete the Health Examination Form which was included with your Admissions packet, and stamp it with the appropriate authorization.
Bring this form with you, as you must have this form on file here in order to use the health care services provided through Gannon's Student Health Center. Since you you will require a physical exam in order to get a Pennsylvania driver's license, as well, please remember that you will be able to undergo this physical exam courtesy of the Gannon Student Health Center only if your completed (and stamped) health examination form is on file. If you can't find the form among the many papers you have received prior to your departure, please download it from Gannon's Web site.
For students or family members with medical conditions requiring continuity of care and treatment, please remember to bring up-to-date medical records with you. If you have children who will be enrolled in school here in Erie, please bring a record of immunizations.
All international students at Gannon University are required to carry health insurance that meets both standards set by the University and those, in the case of individuals in J-1 and J-2 status, set by the U.S. Department of State (please see your DS-2019 form for J status insurance requirements).
International students will be automatically enrolled in the University's group policy and billed for the cost. You may, however, waive coverage under the University group policy if you are able to present proof, in English, to the Dean of Student Development that you are enrolled for coverage under another policy with comparable terms, such as for total coverage, deductibles, provisions for repatriation, etc. You may, from the following link, review a copy of the University's group policy, underwritten by First Agency Insurance.
Medical care in the United States can be very expensive, so it is vital for your well-being that you choose a health insurance policy with due consideration.
