INFORMATION FOR CONTRIBUTORS
Submission of papers
The following procedures govern the submission of papers for publication
by the JOURNAL and for presentation at association
or section meetings.
JOURNAL
AWWA. Papers should
be submitted directly to JOURNAL AWWA, 6666 W. Quincy
Ave., Denver, CO 80235. Four copies of a double-spaced manuscript are required.
Papers submitted to the JOURNAL are sent through peer
review for evaluation before acceptance for publication.
Association meetings.
Abstracts of papers for AWWA annual and specialty conferences should be
sent to Susan Gunzner, AWWA, 6666 W. Quincy Ave., Denver, CO 80235. Abstract
requirements and submission dates are published regularly in AWWA MAINSTREAM.
Section meetings.
Members who wish to present a paper at a section meeting should send the
paper or an abstract to the secretary of the section, who will refer it
to the appropriate program committee for consideration.
Editorial policy
JOURNAL AWWA invites managers, operators, consultants,
and researchers (both AWWA members and nonmembers) to submit articles pertinent
to the drinking water field. Papers are considered for publication with
the understanding that they have not been published elsewhere and are not
under consideration by any other publication. Manuscripts may have been
prepared initially for presentation at an AWWA conference or section meeting
or may have been written explicitly for the JOURNAL.
Articles about the application of a specific company's products or services
are acceptable only if written objectively, citing disadvantages as well
as advantages of the product or service. Such articles should be written
by a user of the product or service rather than by a representative of
the company involved. The company or product will be mentioned once in
a footnote.
Acknowledgment of papers
Receipt of manuscripts will be acknowledged promptly by the editorial staff.
Papers are sent through the JOURNAL's peer review
system for evaluation before acceptance for publication. Acceptance or
rejection normally occurs within six months. Authors will be notified regarding
acceptance or rejection of articles. Rejected papers will be returned.
Copyright policy
The JOURNAL publishes accepted papers as soon as possible.
But if a paper is not scheduled for publication by the end of the one-year
period following acknowledgment of receipt, authors may request that the
paper be released to them. Papers published or held by the JOURNAL
may not be published elsewhere (in sum or in part) without written permission
of the JOURNAL. AWWA reserves the right to edit all
papers for style, grammar, and clarity.
After receiving copyright transfer from the authors, AWWA will have
copyright to articles published in the JOURNAL. AWWA
reserves the right to reprint published papers in full or in part in other
AWWA publications.
