By submitting materials to this programming contest website, all authors attest to the ownership of the submitted materials, and to providing Gannon University with an unlimited license to use the submitted materials for teaching, marketing of computing and computing programs, and other non-commercial use.

Contest Rules

Student Information

  • Individual or group entries are permitted.

  • Participant must have a Sponsoring Teacher. A sponsoring teacher can be any teacher/instructor at student’s school who is familiar with student’s programming skills.

  • Complete and accurate information must be provided for all students registering for the contest. This includes (but is not limited to):
    • Full name
    • Complete mailing address
    • Phone
    • Email address
    • Name of High School
    • Year of high school graduation
    • Area of Academic Interest

  • If registering as a Team, complete information for all students is essential.

  • Complete and accurate information must be provided for the Sponsoring Teacher. This includes (but is not limited to): Teacher’s full name, school name, school address, phone, and teacher’s email address.

  • We are not responsible for incorrect registration information.

  • Employees of Gannon University and their children are prohibited from participating. This contest is void where prohibited by law. Taxes on prizes are the sole responsibility of the prize winners.

Project Requirements

  • Entries can be written in any programming language as long as they are executable on a PC running LINUX or Windows operating system.

  • Games are acceptable.

  • Entries must be accompanied by clear documentation of:
    1. The problem the program is intended to solve
    2. The capabilities of the progam
    3. The correct operation of the program.

Judging Criteria

  • Effectiveness at solving the documented problem
  • Clarity of code design
  • Conciseness and completeness of documentation

  • 1st Prize:    $300

  • 2nd Prize:   $150

  • 3rd Prize:    $100
  •  Honorable Mention:   $50 
  •  

    For group entries, prizes will be distributed among group members.
