Welcome

The Computer and Information Science (CIS) department offers a variety of programs to prepare individuals for effective participation in computer- and systems-related professions. Qualified professionals in these fields continue to be in demand as organizations and economies rely upon the efficiency and effectiveness of computer based systems.

Individuals seeking to stay abreast of advances in the rapidly changing digital world can select undergraduate, graduate, or certificate studies, depending upon their current academic preparation. Courses in each of the programs seek to provide students with current skills for their first career position and with conceptual preparation to sustain their vocation throughout their career. Emphasis is also placed on integrating professional skills with ethical living.

Our undergraduate MIS and CS programs are accredited by ABET while our SE program anticipates accreditation in 2008.

As the mission statement of Gannon University states and as realized in the courses, activities, and interactions of the CIS department, the CIS faculty and staff “are committed to excellence and continuous improvement in teaching, learning, scholarship, research, and service”. We welcome you to come and visit – experience a department working with you to help you be your best.
