The Mechanical Engineering Department at Gannon seeks to combine excellence in education and research with service to society.
Academic course work and projects are designed to endow students with the ability to apply knowledge of science, mathematics, and engineering, and the capability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams, providing leadership and technical expertise. With a solid grounding in the principles and practice of mechanical engineering, our graduates are ready to engage in ethical approaches to engineering, with concern for society and the environment.
The Mechanical Engineering department offers students "learn by doing" approach to education. Our priority is teaching undergraduate students. Class size is limited to 30 students with faculty, not teaching assistants, teaching all courses. The faculty brings into the classroom their own industrial experience which provides students with a realistic perspective and understanding of the engineering world. Laboratories are also taught by faculty and geared towards experience in the types of analysis used in real engineering applications. Illustration of the concepts learned in the classroom and familiarization with actual mechanical hardware are also emphasized.
