ACM Chapter(Association for Computing Machinery)

Introduction: Founded in 1947, ACM is a major force in advancing the skills of information technology professionals and students worldwide. Today, our 75,000 members and the public turn to ACM for the industry's leading Portal to Computing Literature, authoritative publications and pioneering conferences, providing leadership for the 21st century.
Activities: ACM carries out its mission through conferences,publications,educational programs,public awareness activities and special interest groups.It sponsers nearly 100 conferences annually, including computers, Freedom and Privacy(CFP); Computer Graphics(SIGGRAPH); and Object-Oriented programming systems,languages and applications(OOPSLA).The ACM Carrier Resource Center and its Job Center offers an online carrier community for job seekers and employers.The ACM professional center offers members hundreds of web based training for no charge.www.acm.org/crs; http://pd.acm.org.
Organization Structure: ACM's more than seventy five thousand members come from industry , acadamia and government institutions around the world.Thourgh its membership,volunteers serve on various ACM boards,commities and task forces that comprises ACM's governing structure www.acm.org/key_people.
Publications: ACM publishes,distributes and archives more than 30 publications that provide original research and first-hand perspectives from the world's leading thinkers in computing and information technologies.They include: communications of the ACM , featuring as contributers some of the most knowledgeable and respected people in the field ; queue , for practising computing professionals;membernet,about the world of ACM and beyond ; cross roads, ACM studens maganzine ; interactions , for human and computer interaction;and networker , on the craft of network computing.ACM's newest web page publication(www.acm.org) include ACM computer in entertainment , covering entertainment technologies ; ACM TECHNews , a news digest for busy IT professionals;ubiquity , a magazine and forum for in-depth analysis on IT issues; and e-Learn,  tracking developments in distance learning.www.acm.org/pubs.

IEEE Organization

IEEE is the professional organization of Electrical, Electronics, and Computer Engineers. The IEEE student branch provides a tie between the professional organization and the Gannon ECE students. The student branch builds camaraderie between the students, from freshman to seniors. The IEEE student branch provides a forum where a diverse group of students interact socially as well as technically. IEEE holds monthly meetins for the students. As well, there is an annual IEEE student paper competition for the members. The winner of the competition represents Gannon University in the regional competition.
