
In addition to offering a 4-year Bachelor of Arts program as well as a 2-year Associate of Arts program, students can choose to minor in Criminal Justice or complete one of several certificate level programs.
Behavioral Specialist Minor/Certificate
The Behavioral Specialist responsibilities are to behaviorally assess and evaluate, develop and implement positive behavioral support plans, and consult and collaborate with families, schools, and other agencies working with the identified child. Any social service agency providing Wraparound service would employ behavioral specialists. Therefore, the Behavioral Specialist Certification program would be an asset to the social service agencies in the community who need trained professionals.
Corrections Minor/Certificate
The Corrections Minor provides the student with knowledge, skills and abilities that prepare him or her for a career in the field. Employment opportunities exist at the federal, state, and local level for those interested in corrections, probation and parole as well as related alternative programs. This minor prepares students to deal with various correctional programs, custodial, management, human resources, budgetary, and training issues they will face in the field.
Criminal Justice Forensic Investigation Minor/Certificate
This minor/certificate program is designed to provide students with skills in the area of criminology, civil and criminal investigations, the collection and analysis of crime scene evidence, ensuring the reliability, relevance, and the admissibility (integrity) of the chain of evidence, and preparing evidence for presentation in court. Typical employment opportunities will include entry-level positions in law enforcement agencies, private security firms, local, state, and federal crime labs, and private corporations.
Juvenile Justice Minor/Certificate
The Juvenile Justice Minor/Certificate track provides a student an opportunity to gain an expertise in one of the largest area of specialization in the Criminal Justice System. In addition to the 67 counties of Pennsylvania looking for Probation Officers, students will be employable in various private juvenile institutions, boot camps, and group homes.
