Welcome to the Archaeology and Culture website, part of Gannon University's Institute for Archaeological Research. This website will introduce you to many facets of the archaeology program at Gannon including a newly expanded archaeology program, well-equiped archaeology lab, study-abroad opportunities, undergraduate research projects, and many cross-cultural activities.

The site also provides information for outreach, both educational programs (K-12) and the general public looking to expand their world-view of different cultures from ancient civilizations to modern day socieities beyond the confines of the United States.

Study Abroad
Gannon Magazine Article
From May to June 2004, Gannon History and Theology professor, Suzanne Richard Ph.D. with a staff of 35, including five from Gannon, spent 6 weeks working at the Early Bronze Age site of Khirbet Iskander, Jordan. This was the ninth season of excavations. Khirbet Iskander is well known for being perhaps the only urban site in the EB IV period, following the general upheaval throughout the region around 2350 BCE.
