CSI-College Student Inventory

The College Student Inventory (CSI) is a survey (consisting of 100 questions) that freshmen take to see what their strengths are and helps identify areas of need.

Why is it important? Because everyone learns differently.

  • Freshmen will be mailed the CSI the summer prior to their freshman year.

  • Completed inventories are sent back to the Academic Advising Center.

  • Freshmen completing the CSI will receive their reports 1-2 weeks before classes begin.

  • An academic advisor will discuss your results with you and make you aware of follow-up activities that fit your interests and needs.

While completing the inventory and participating in the follow-up activities are voluntary, students are strongly encouraged to take advantage of these opportunities. They will likely have a very beneficial effect on your entire educational experience.

"Each of us learns in a different way. We focus attention on somewhat different dimensions of the world around us, we have somewhat different understandings of the world, and we strive for quite different kinds of personal growth. We can only achieve our full potential when these forces of individuality are meshed smootly with the learning process."

                 Michael L. Stratil

All freshmen also have access to a web resource on ANGEL called "First Year Academic Success 101." It's another valuable tool which includes handouts on time management, GPA calculation, reminders, etc.
