The Center for Teaching Excellence at Gannon University has been established by the Pennsylvania Department of Education and the University to provide support for teacher candidates for National Board for Professional Teaching Standards Certification and to provide information on National Board for Professional Teaching Standards Certification for various audiences.
Contact our director, Linda Cook, to request:
- assistance in:
- preparing your application
- requesting federal and state financial support of your candidacy
- understanding the portfolio development process and Assessment Center procedures
- registering for an introductory or candidate workshop
- a presentation to a group of teachers, school administrators, or school board members
- loan of digital camera, digital camcorder, and microphone equipment
- a National Board Certified Teacher mentor

Financial support to help offset most of the certification assessment fees is available through grants from the United States Department of Education and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
The center is open by appointment weekdays, after school Monday through Thursday, and on the following Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
