Gannon University Lake Erie College of Medicine (LECOM) Accelerated
Pre-Pharmacy Program
Gannon University in collaboration with the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine
(LECOM) School of Pharmacy offers a competitive 5 - year Doctor of Pharmacy Degree. The
Accelerated Program allows academically qualified students to attend Gannon University for
only two years of Pre-Pharmacy before transferring to LECOM School of Pharmacy for three
years, allowing for completion of the Doctor of Pharmacy Degree. Most Doctor of Pharmacy
Programs require six years of study. This program is open to students who enter the program
as freshmen and complete two years of their undergraduate work at Gannon University
LECOM School of Pharmacy has reserved a minimum of ten positions for Gannon students
with the understanding that additional positions may be available for qualified students.
UNDERGRADUATE REQUIREMENTS
- SAT total of 1100 or higher in critical reading and math, ACT total of 24 or higher
- High school GPA of 3.4 out of 4.0
- Additional evidence of scholarly and extracurricular activities
- Letters of recommendation
Admissions Process
Students are encouraged to apply by the January 15th yearly deadline. All applicants will be
placed in one group, a "pool" from which the ten top students are chosen. Once offered
acceptance, students will have two weeks to send their enrollment deposit to reserve their
space in the program. If the deadline passes without deposit, their space will be given to
another student and they will be placed at the bottom of the applicant wait list.
ADMISSIONS PROCESS TO LECOM SCHOOL OF PHARMACY
- Successful completion of the pre-pharmacy curriculum at Gannon University.
- Minimum GPA of 3.4 in pre-pharmacy curriculum, with no grades lower than a "C".
- Minimum GPA of 3.4 in science and mathematics courses, with no grade lower than a
"C".
- Submit two letters of recommendation. One of these letters MUST be from the pre-
pharmacy selection committee at Gannon University. The letter will address the personal
growth of the student during the pre-pharmacy phase of the curriculum at Gannon
University, as well as the student's maturity, responsibility, and desire to become a
pharmacist. The second letter should be from a pharmacist.
- Demonstrate leadership potential and commitment to the pharmacy profession.
- Submit a completed application for admission to the LECOM School of Pharmacy.
- Students in this program cannot retake courses in which they have earned a ''D" or "F"
grade and remain in a conditionally guaranteed spot.
- Personal interview at LECOM.
- The Pharmacy college Admissions Text (PCAT) is strongly recommended.
- Students who have taken pre-requisite courses in high school (dual enrollment) must
supplement each course with an additional, higher level course in the same discipline.
- Students cannot withdraw from any course during a semester in an effort to reduce their
course load. Such withdrawal will result in the removal of the student from the program.
- Pre-requisite courses cannot be taken pass/fail.
- Students cannot take any requirements during the summer.
- Successful completion of a criminal background check.
- LECOM does not allow foreign nationals to apply for this conditionally guaranteed program.
- LECOM will not accept transfer students into this program.

Gannon University Charleston Accelerated Pre-Pharmacy Program
Gannon University in collaboration with the University of Charleston School of Pharmacy
offers a competitive 6 - year Doctor of Pharmacy Degree. The Accelerated Program allows
academically qualified students to attend Gannon University for only two years of Pre-
Pharmacy before transferring to the UC School of Pharmacy for four years, allowing for
completion of the Doctor of Pharmacy Degree. The Charleston School of Pharmacy has
reserved a minimum of five (5) positions for Accelerated Pre-Pharmacy Gannon students
with the understanding that additional positions may be available for qualified students. This
is open to studentss who enter the program as freshmen and complete two years of their
undergraduate work at Gannon University.
ADMISSIONS PROCESS GANNON UNIVERSITY/CHARLESTON ACCELERATED
PHARMACY PROGRAM
- Sat scores have 1100 or higher (ACT total of 24 or higher)
- High school GPA of 3.0 out of 4.0
- Top 25% of the High School class
- Additional Evidence of Scholarly and Extracurricular Activities
- Letters of Recommendation

- Successful completion of the Pre-Pharmacy Curriculum in Phase I of the Dual Degree
Program at Gannon University.
- Minimum GPA of 3.25 in Phase I of the program with no grades lower than a "C".
- Earn a minimum of 3.25 GPA in all science and mathematics courses, with no grade lower
than "C".
- Submit two letters of recommendation. One of these letters MUST be from the Pre-
Pharmacy Committee at Gannon University and the other from a licensed pharmacist.
- Demonstrate experience in community/campus activism.
- Submit a completed application for admission to the UC School of Pharmacy.
- Students in this program cannot retake courses in which they have earned a 'D' or 'F'
grade and remain in a conditionally guaranteed spot.
- Score above the 65th percentile on the PCAT with an appropriate score on the writing
sample
- Successfully interview with the UC School of Pharmacy faculty
- Successfully complete a criminal background check

Gannon University Charleston Dual Degree Pre-Pharmacy Program
Gannon University in collaboration with the University of Charleston School of Pharmacy offers
a competitive 7 - year Doctor of Pharmacy Degree, leading to a Bachelor of Science degree in
Health Science from Gannon University and a Doctor of Pharmacy Degree from the University of
Charleston School of Pharmacy. This program allows academically qualified students to attend
Gannon University for three years of Pre-Pharmacy before transferring to the Charleston School
of Pharmacy for four years. At the end of the successful completion of the first year of the
professional phase of the Program, students return to Gannon University to receive their
undergraduate degree. They receive their Pharm.D. degree from the UC following the successful
completion of the professional phase of the Program. The Charleston School of Pharmacy has
reserved a minimum of five (5)positions for Dual Degree UC Pre-Pharmacy Gannon students
with the understanding that additional positions may be available for qualified students.
