WIFFLEBALL RULES

Team:

A)   Each team will consist of 7 players.  One player must be the catcher, the others play the field however desired.

B)    There must be a minimum of 3 girls on the field at all times.

C)   A team must have a minimum of 6 (3 guys, 3 girls) players to start the game.  Each team will have a 5-minute grace period from the original game time.  If a team does not have sufficient players after the grace period, a forfeit will be awarded.

D)   No more than 1 varsity Baseball or Softball player per team.

Game Rules:

A)   Each batter will receive 3 pitches and has 1 swing.  If the batter takes all 3 pitches outside the strike zone, the batter is awarded first base (base on balls).

B)    The batter must swing with 2 hands.  A 1-handed swing will result in an out.

C)   A foul ball or a swing-and-a-miss will result in an out.

D)   Pitcher’s mound is out for first.  Fielders may throw the ball at a runner (shoulders or below), if the runner is struck by a thrown ball, he/she is out and the ball is dead.  Every other runner is awarded the base to which he/she is running.  A runner that is struck in the head by a thrown ball will be awarded the base to which he/she is running.

E)    Ricochet Rule:  The ceiling is in play.  Balls caught bouncing off the ceiling are outs.

F)    Homeruns are any batted balls that hit the white part of the curtain in left field, or hit any part of the running track in right field.  Balls may not ricochet off the ceiling for a homerun.  Any batted ball that strikes the ceiling and then hits or lands in the designated homerun area will result in a dead ball and a ground rule double.

G)   There will be no bunting, stealing, lead-offs, or sliding.  Any player breaking these rules will be called out.

H)   Each team will receive 3 outs.

I)       Each team must bat according to their batting order, which will be presented at the beginning of each game.  Batting out-of-order will result in the skipped batter being called out.

J)      Teams MUST bat boy-girl-boy-girl or girl-boy-girl-boy.

K)   The games will be 5 innings.  If a team is winning by 8 or more runs after 3 innings, the game will be considered final.

L)    If a team forfeits, that team is out of the tournament.
