Gannon University makes the transfer process easy to complete. We make admissions decisions on a rolling basis for most majors. Upon acceptance to Gannon, you will be notified of scholarships and other financial aid.
To apply for admission, you should submit the following items:
We recognize that financial aid is an important part of your transfer decision. Last year, approximately 90 percent of our students qualified for financial aid. Upon admission to Gannon, transfer students are automatically considered for scholarships. Merit awards and grants are available and are based on academic performance and need. Transfer students should file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) in paper format or on-line. For more information, contact the Office of Financial Aid.
Incoming transfer students who are members of Phi Theta Kappa at their community colleges are eligible for up to $2,000 in Phi Theta Kappa Scholarships. An unlimited number of these scholarships will be offered. To qualify, students must be a U.S. citizen and have a 3.0 college GPA.
Students holding the Associate of Arts or the Associate of Science Degree may qualify for Gannon's Next Step Program. The program enables transfer students to make an easy transition from a two- or four-year college to Gannon. The program guarantees acceptance of up to 64 credits and allows students to enter Gannon with junior level status. Only courses in which grades of "C" (2.0) or better have been earned are eligible for transfer. At least two years of upper-division full-time study are required to obtain the Baccalaureate Degree.
Fifteen majors/academic programs are available through the Next Step Program:
Courses taken at the college level that are relevant to your selected academic program are eligible for transfer as long as you received a grade of "C" or better. Other courses may transfer as electives.
Upon acceptance to Gannon, your college transcripts will be sent to the appropriate academic dean for review. The Dean's Office then sends a letter indicating the number of credits being accepted.
Gannon University requires all transfer students who are under the age of 21 to live in Gannon housing if they have completed less than four full-time semesters at a previous institution. Housing will be guaranteed to these students.
If a student lives within a 25-mile straight-line radius from campus, then they may opt to commute to the University.
If a transfer student has completed four or more full-time semesters at a previous institution, then they may live in off-campus housing or request Gannon housing. However, Gannon housing cannot be guaranteed and placement will be based on a space available basis.
On-campus housing for upperclassmen is available in apartment buildings and several duplex units. Each of the apartment units is fully furnished and most house up to four students. All of the apartments are within walking distance from classroom buildings. In special cases, residence hall housing may be arranged for transfer students.
For more information about housing, contact the Office of Student Living at 814-871-7564.
For students entering in the Fall semester, a Transfer Orientation is held in early June. During this program, you meet with a faculty representative to finalize your class schedule. In addition, you will tour campus and receive information about the University's resources and services. For students entering in the Spring semester, a Spring Welcome program is held in early January. For more information about these programs, contact the Office of New Student Services.
