After serving as general manager during his senior year, Matt worked for the Atlanta Braves. Currently, Matt is happy to be back home in Pittsburgh, working as a graphics producer for the Pirates.
What advice would you give to current or prospective students?
My best advice would be to take electives in the theatre and communications field, even if you don't think you would be interested in the class. Someday, the class that you took that you weren't terribly excited about might qualify you for the job that you really want. Communication and presentation skills are important in any field.
Why did you choose to attend Gannon University?
I chose Gannon initially because of the faculty. When I came to visit, AJ Miceli and MC Gensheimer sat down with my parents and me for over an hour, discussing the program. I loved the close relationships between the faculty and the students, and I thought it would be a great place to learn. Now, a few years after graduation, I believe choosing Gannon is one of the best decisions I ever made.
What was the highlight of your Gannon University experience?
It's hard to pick just one highlight from my GU experience. Because of Gannon, I am where I am today. But while I was there, one of my favorite memories is being able to be a part of WERG and the Primetime Sports Guys every Thursday night. To talk sports for 3 hours for people who care about it and can relate to me is an unbelievable feeling. To be able to do that and call the play-by-play for Gannon sports is something I will never forget, and it certainly prepared me for my career.
