Enrollment at 17-Year High
Number of students has grown more than 24 percent during presidency of Dr. Antoine M. Garibaldi
More freshmen.
More transfer students.
More total undergraduate students.
Growth in several key student demographics has helped Gannon University reach a total enrollment of 4,238, the University’s highest number of students since 1992. Gannon has achieved the record figure despite a challenging economic environment.
When Antoine M. Garibaldi, Ph.D., began serving as president of Gannon in 2001, the University’s overall enrollment stood at 3,407. The current figure represents an increase of more than 24 percent during Dr. Garibaldi’s tenure.
The current overall enrollment was driven in part by the success of the Gannon Stimulus Initiative, which earlier this year made available for prospective students as well as returning Gannon students an additional $2.6 million in financial aid.
The current enrollment includes growth in several statistically significant areas:
• A fall 2009 semester class of 649 first-year students, the University’s most since the fall of 1993.
• A fall 2009 semester class of 102 transfer students, compared with 88 last fall. The current group of transfers represents an increase of nearly 14 percent over last year and is Gannon’s highest number of transfer students in more than a decade. By comparison, the University enrolled just 59 transfer students in the fall of 2005.
• A current full-time undergraduate enrollment of 2,413 students, Gannon’s highest since 1996.
• The 780 new undergraduate students, who include 29 readmitted students, enrolled at Gannon in the current fall semester are the University’s most since 1993.
• A full-time graduate enrollment of 1,317 students. Just four years ago, Gannon enrolled 1,016 grad students; the current figure represents an increase of nearly 30 percent.
