Busy month includes Homecoming/Reunion Weekend
Gannon University’s Schuster Theatre will open its 2009-10 season with seven performances of “Dancing at Lughnasa.” Performances will be held at 8 p.m. on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, Oct. 1, 2, and 3; at 8 p.m. on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, Oct. 8, 9, and 10; and at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 11. Gannon University’s Schuster Theatre is located at 620 Sassafras St. Tickets for the general public are $5. Gannon University will host a Graduate and Professional School Fair from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 6 in the Yehl Room of the University’s Waldron Campus Center, 124 West 7th St. The Fair is free and open to the public. Representatives from some 50 schools/programs will be on hand with information on programs in fields of study such as business, education, engineering, health sciences, law, liberal arts, and the social sciences. Gannon University’s Erie Chamber Orchestra will host a concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16 at Gannon University’s Mary, Seat of Wisdom Chapel, 520 Peach St. The concert will feature as soloist Sabrina Vlaskalic (guitar). Gannon University’s Erie Chamber Orchestra is conducted and directed by Bruce Morton Wright. All concerts of the orchestra are free and open to the public. Gannon University’s Schuster Gallery currently is hosting its first exhibit of the 2009-10 season. The exhibit, which will be on display through Nov. 15, is “Celebration of Visual Traditions: New Work of Diverse Pennsylvania Artists.” The Gallery is located on the third floor of the University’s Nash Library, 619 Sassafras St., and is open regular library hours: Monday-Thursday, 8 a.m. to midnight; Friday, 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Saturday 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.; and Sunday 12:30 p.m. to 12 a.m. Free and open to the public. Gannon University will host its annual Alumni Homecoming/Reunion Weekend Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, Oct. 23-25. Gannon and Villa Maria College classes of 1959 (50th), 1969 (40th), and 1984 (25th) will celebrate Landmark Reunions. Affinity reunions are scheduled for many groups, including for graduates of the Health Professions and Sciences and Computer and Information Science; Heritage Society; Student Government Association; African-American; Young Alumni (classes of 1999-2009); and the women’s volleyball program. The Homecoming Parade will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 24 at Gridley Park, West 6th and Liberty streets, and proceed over 6th Street toward Old Main. In the Homecoming football game, also Saturday, Gannon will host Lock Haven at 1 p.m. at Gannon University Field.
