Gannon to Welcome Non-profits
Service Fest allows students to learn more about volunteer oppprtunities
Gannon University students interested in volunteer work and community service on Tuesday, Sept. 1 will have a chance to meet with representatives from some 30 local nonprofit agencies and organizations.
The University will host its annual Service Fest from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Yehl Room of the Waldron Campus Center, 124 West 7th St. The event allows Gannon students to learn more about the agencies as well as their goals and objectives and the individuals they serve.
Service is an integral aspect of Gannon Universitys Mission. In addition, many faculty members incorporate service-learning into their classes.
Its a real win-win situation for our students and for the agencies, said Arlene Montevecchio, director of the Gannon University Center for Social Concerns. For the students, Service Fest is very convenient in that agencies from across the community will be available in one place to answer their questions. And, its beneficial for the agencies because it allows them to expand their base of volunteers.
