Convocation to be Held Aug. 23
New students officially will begin college life
Gannon University on Sunday, Aug. 23 will welcome its new students to campus for the fall 2009 semester.

Sunday will be a busy day for the new students:

• They will check into their residence halls: Wehrle Hall, 211 West 6th; Finegan Hall, 120 West 5th; and Crispo Apartments, 309 Sassafras St. Student check-in for all three buildings will run until 1 p.m.

• At 2:15 p.m., the students will attend a Welcome Mass in the Mary, Seat of Wisdom Chapel, 520 Peach St.

• At 3:30 p.m., the students will attend the New Student Convocation in the Hammermill Center, Peach Street and South Park Row. Convocation is an academic ceremony designed to bond members of the new class and their families with the Gannon community, and to initiate a life-long relationship between the students and their alma mater. Gannon’s Office of Admissions, which recruited the students, formally will turn them over to the faculty, staff, and administrators.

Gannon’s fall semester classes for all students begin Wednesday, Aug. 26.
