Summer Orientations Begin
First off four sessions to be held June 21-22
Gannon University will welcome to campus nearly 150 students who will be participating in the first of the University’s four Summer Orientation sessions.
Gannon’s Summer Orientation session I will be held Sunday and Monday, June 21-22. Summer Orientation gives Gannon’s incoming freshmen an opportunity to become more familiar with the programs, services, and resources available to them. Orientation also allows participating students to meet with faculty, staff, and administrators.
The schedule for Session I includes the following events:
Sunday, June 21:
• 12-1 p.m. – Catholic Mass, Mary Seat of Wisdom Chapel, 520 Peach St.
• 1-3 p.m. – Registration, Finegan Hall, 120 West 5th St.
• 1:30-2:30 p.m. – Campus tours, departing from Waldron Campus Center, 124 West 7th St.
• 3:30 p.m. – Orientation program, Yehl Room of Waldron Center: Opening Prayer Service; “Welcome to Gannon University” by Gannon President Antoine M. Garibaldi, Ph.D., and others; introductions of orientation advisor staff; overview of orientation highlights.
• 5:15-6:15 p.m. – Picnic Supper, Waldron Center.
• 9-10:30 p.m. – Get-Acquainted Student Social, Waldron Center.
Monday, June 22:
• 8:30-9 a.m. – Provost’s Message, Yehl Room, Waldron Center, given by Keith Taylor, Ph.D.; provost and vice president for academic affairs.
• 9-10 a.m. – LIFECORE of Discovery presentation, Friendship Green (outside Waldron Center), and Schuster Theatre, 620 Sassafras St. LIFECORE helps students answer the question, “How shall I live my life?” Also, presentations on Gannon’s Student Government Association, Activities Programming Board, and Greek life.
• 11:30-11:45 a.m. – Presentation on campus safety, Yehl Room.
• 12-12:50 p.m. – Lunch, Beyer Hall cafeteria, 628 Peach St.
• 1:30-3 p.m. – Meet with department representatives, Yehl Room.
• 3-4:30 p.m. – Honors Program meeting, room 1202, Palumbo Center, 824 Peach St.; meeting with ROTC program representatives, room 412, Beyer Hall, 628 Peach St.
• 3-5 p.m. – Residence hall check out, Finegan Hall, 120 West 5th St.
