Goldcamp Chosen for Medal of Honor
Honored by vote of students, faculty, and staff
Kyle J. Goldcamp of Pittsburgh was awarded the Medal of Honor at Gannon University’s May Commencement ceremony.

The Gannon University Medal of Honor is awarded to a graduating senior who, by vote of the University’s faculty and students, has done the most in the class to further the interests of the University, to foster loyal collegiate spirit, and to carry out the ideals of the Christian life.

Goldcamp is the son of Mary Jo and Joe Goldcamp and is a graduate of Central Catholic High School. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in biology and a 3.87 grade point average.

As a starter for the Gannon University men’s basketball team during the 2008-09 season, Goldcamp averaged 18.9 points per game and 9.3 rebounds per game while shooting 59 percent from the field. He led the team in all three categories as the Golden Knights (30-4) advanced to the NCAA Division II Elite Eight in Springfield, Mass.

He also was a member of ICHTHI, leader of The Zone Student/Athlete Faith Sharing Group, and a lector in his church.

In addition to his many athletic honors and the Gannon University Medal of Honor, Goldcamp received two awards at the University’s Founder’s Day Awards Convocation in April. He was the recipient of the Rev. Charles Drexler Award, given for Outstanding Leadership in Faith, Worship, and Community Service, and the Doc Beyer Service Award.
