GANNON BASEBALL DROPS TWO IN
ROAD DOUBLE DIP
 
UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – The Gannon University baseball team dropped a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) doubleheader against Saginaw Valley State University (26-12, 14-8) at SVSU Baseball Field Saturday afternoon, game two of which saw 39 runs scored between the teams. Gannon lost game two 25-14 and game one 10-3.
   
In game two, The Golden Knights (7-29, 3-21) entered the third inning down 11-0. However, Jim Travers (Erie, Pa./Cathedral Prep) put Gannon on the board after hitting an RBI single to score Drew Rojek (Lake View, N.Y./Fronter) from third base. Travers went 4 for 4 in game two with two runs.
   
Jonathan Dziomba (Williamsville, N.Y./St. Joe’s Collegiate) kept Gannon’s momentum going with a three-run homer, his fifth home run of the year. Dziomba tallied four hits in two at-bats.
   
Kolten Hoffman (West Middlesex, Pa./West Middlesex) posted the Golden Knights’ sixth and final run of the inning by scoring on a passed ball.
   
Saginaw tallied three runs in the bottom of the third, but Gannon responed in the fourth with five runs.
   
Hoffman singled down the left field line to score Travers. Chris Miller (Franklin, Pa./Franklin) was walked with bases loaded, sending Dziomba home for the easy run.    
   
Greg Radwan (Farnham, N.Y./St. Francis)  kept things going after scoring on John Pichette’s (Horseheads, N.Y./Elmira-Notre Dame) ground out to second.
   
Ryan Tann (Fairview, Pa./Cathedral Prep) batted-in two off a single through the left-side gap.
   
Despite producing 11 runs in two innings, the Golden Knights were unable to catch the Cardinals.
   
Miller went 2 for 3 with one RBI in game one. Tann went 2 for 2 and scored one run.
   
Gannon continues play against Saginaw tomorrow, April 26 at noon.
