GOLDEN KNIGHTS DROP PAIR OF
CLOSE GAMES WITH NORTHWOOD

MIDLAND, Mich. – The Gannon University baseball team dropped both games of its second doubleheader against Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) foe Northwood University (16-13, 4-10) Monday afternoon at Gerace Stadium.

The Golden Knights (6-20, 2-12) lost both games by one run with attempted rallies in the seventh inning. The Timberwolves won game one 3-2 and the second game 5-4.

Gannon’s Jonathan Dziomiba (Williamsville, N.Y./St. Joe’s Collegiate) went 3 for 4 with 3 RBIs in game two, including a two-run RBI triple in the seventh inning.

Drew Rojek (Lake View, N.Y./Frontier) hit an RBI single to score Ryan Tann (Fairview, Pa./Cathedral Prep) and reached second on an Eric Harpster (Erie, Pa./McDowell) single through the left side.

Dziomba tripled to right center, opening the door for Rojek and Harpster to cross home plate.

Northwood opened the nightcap with a run, but Dziomba’s RBI single to right field in the third evened the score.

The Timberwoves answered with one run in the fourth and three in the following inning.

Greg Radwan (Farnham, N.Y./St. Francis) suffered the loss after giving up five runs on six hits and walking six batters. Radwan (2-2) struck out one.

Tann’s two-run RBI single in game one’s final inning narrowed Northwood’s three-run lead to one; however, the Golden Knights were unable to eke out a victory.

Evan Euler (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Hills) pitched all six inning for Gannon in the loss.

Euler (1-3) allowed three runs on four hits, walked two and struck out two.

The Golden Knights continue conference play at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 16 against University of Findlay. The twinbill marks the beginning of a six-game homestand for Gannon.
