GOLDEN
KNIGHTS EARN
MEMORABLE SPLIT AT IUP
INDIANA, Pa. – April Fools Day may be a holiday
for tomfoolery, but the outcome of Gannon baseball’s doubleheader at Indiana
University of Pennsylvania Tuesday afternoon is no joke.
Gannon dropped its first game at Owen Dougherty Field 25-8. However, Coach
Nate Cocolin’s Golden Knights earned their fourth win of the season in impressive
fashion. Gannon rallied in game two to split the twinbill with a 21-1 victory.
The Golden Knights closed the first inning with a 3-1 advantage.
Gannon (4-12) added nine runs to its tally in the top of the second. Seven
batters scored one run. Ryan Tann (Fairview,
Pa./Cathedral Prep) crossed the plate twice.
The Golden Knights recorded four more runs in the fourth inning, three in
the fifth, and two in the seventh.
The Gannon nine produced a total of 21 runs, 22 hits, and zero errors in
game two. IUP (20-9) had five hits and one error.
Jonathan Dziomba (Williamsville, N.Y./St.
Joe’s Collegiate) led Gannon with five runs.
Greg Radwan (Farnham, N.Y./St. Francis)
batted-in five runs. Four Golden Knights recorded three RBI. The team totaled
20.
Gannon’s Drew Rojek (Lake View, N.Y./Frontier)
earned the win. The redshirt-sophomore struck-out six batters and allowed
five hits, one run, and zero walks in all seven innings on the mound.
IUP’s Josh Hildebrand suffered the loss. Hildebrand allowed seven hits, 10
runs, and two walks in 1 2/3 innings. He struck-out two batters.
