Undeclared Program (Undecided)

Gannon University believes in providing many opportunities for deciding students. If you are unsure of which field of study you would like to enter, the flexible undeclared program can help you explore possibilities. You will meet with career advisors who will answer questions you may have about curriculum and degree requirements. Your classes will allow you to explore a number of fields that interest you, and you will complete courses that fulfill degree requirements for the major you choose. Whether you decide on a major in accounting, biology, education, engineering, nursing, history, or theatre and communication arts, the undeclared program can help you get there.

First semester courses satisfy requirements for most majors and at the same time provide exposure to a variety of subject areas. Liberal arts courses, mixed with the professional courses in your area of interest, will provide the right combination for a successful transition into your choice of major.

College Connections

The undeclared program is housed in the Career Development and Employment Services Office in the Palumbo Academic Center. Students have the opportunity to participate in career groups and individual advising appointments.

You will be encouraged to declare a major by the end of your freshman year. Your advisor will assist you in making connections with academic majors of your choice.

All undeclared students will have the opportunity to work with the Center for Experiential Education to complete job shadowing and informational interviews at local companies.

Using our GUXpress Web-based system, deciding students can conduct their own personal academic evaluation. This can be especially helpful to undeclared students. This online academic evaluation allows students to conduct “what if” analyses related to their coursework and Gannon curriculum requirements, enabling students to see how their completed coursework fits with any major.
