About the Program

• All Gannon business students have the opportunity to participate in many professional business organizations, including the Gannon Accounting Club, Alpha Kappa Psi Professional Business Fraternity, Gannon Advertising Club and the American Marketing Association.

• The Small Business Development Center on Gannon’s campus integrates cutting-edge theory with the latest business technologies to prepare students for successful professional careers.

• The finance program is nationally accredited by the Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP).

• Students in the program interact with other students and professors in the fields of advertising communications, business administration, finance, international business, management, marketing, risk management and insurance, and sports management and marketing.

 

Advanced Business Technology Certificate

The Advanced Business Technology Certificate is a value-added approach to business courses. Some business courses will offer the option of taking a one credit Advanced Business Technology session that integrates advanced instruction in the application of computer technology with the content of the specific courses. Students completing a minimum of six one-credit Advanced Business Technology courses during their tenure as students at Gannon University will earn this certificate. The completion of this certificate will serve as one source of evidence for students to confirm to potential employers that they have advanced knowledge, skills and abilities to use technology-based business applications to improve their job performance.

Major Facts

    • Recent graduates of Gannon’s finance program are employed by institutions such as Erie Insurance Group, Bank One, Chicago Mercantile Exchange, Citigroup, PNC Bank, The Vanguard Group, Chemical Bank and the Chicago Board of Trade.

    • Student Investment Trust allows students to apply investment concepts by investing Trust money in stock and bond markets. Active participants attend an investment conference in their senior year.

    MBA IN FIVE YEARS – Qualified juniors at Gannon may choose to pursue an accelerated MBA program and complete both their undergraduate and graduate degrees in just five years, rather than six.

    • Gannon’s five year BS/MBA program provides the 150 credits required to take the CPA Examination.

    SCHOLARSHIPS – Academic and merit scholarships are available through the Business Excellence Awards.

    SALARY – Depending on career choice, starting salaries will vary from $25,000 to $50,000.

    NEXT-STEP OPTION  Transfer students with an associate’s degree in arts or science may be able to complete this major through Gannon’s Next–Step Program. Next–Step guarantees acceptance of up to 64 credits with grades of C or better and allows students to enter Gannon with junior level status.
