Archaeology and Culture
Minor

On a digThe minor in Archaeology and Culture is intentionally interdisciplinary.  The minor is structured to complement the "Core of Discovery."   Study abroad is integral to the minor and is structurally ensured, as are exposure to multi-cultural values, a science and technology application and textual analysis.

Curriculum:

A minor in Archaeology and Culture will consist of 18 credits.

Required (9 credits):

  • 3 Sacred Scriptures/LTHE 121
  • Archaeology and History of the Ancient Near East/ARCH 201
  • Archaeology Methods and Lab/ARCH 202/crosslisted with HIST 390

Electives (6 credits):

  • 3 Biblical Course-300 level/THEO
  • 3-6 Hebrew I and/or II*/HEBR 111, 112
  • 3-6 Introductory Greek I and/or II*/GREK 111, 112
  • 3 Special Topics in Archaeology/ARCH 390

*Introductory biblical language fulfills College of Humanities, Business and Education foreign language requirement.

Summer Study Abroad (ARCH 396) - Requirement fulfilled by one of the following (3 credits):

  • Gannon University Archaeological Expedition to Khirbet Iskander, Jordan
  • Gannon University sponsored-study tour to the Near East
  • Gannon University sponsored-study tour to Greece (HIST 394)
  • Or under special circumstances Internship in the Gannon University Institute for Archaeological Research
