Gannon University announces the appointment of Melanie A. Whaley as Director for Marketing & Communications

Gannon University enthusiastically announces the appointment of
Melanie A. Whaley as Director for Marketing &
Communications. In this newly created position, Ms. Whaley
will provide strategic leadership for the University's integrated
marketing and communications, including media, public relations,
promotion and advertising.
She joins Gannon from Scott Enterprises a privately held award
winning hospitality company with 22+ brands including restaurants,
hotels, conference centers, ski and golf resort, and a top-ten
North American water park resort where she was the Director of
In her role with Scott Enterprises, she oversaw the marketing
and communications outreach to internal and external audiences,
media relation efforts, creative services and strategic business
development and promotion of Scott Enterprises brands, crisis
communications and in house advertising agency.

platforms at a time when those platforms offer unprecedented

has an instinctive grasp of this dynamic communications landscape

experience and diverse skill set position her for leadership at

Whaley is a 1995 graduate of Gannon University's College of
Humanities, Education and Social Sciences with a degree in
communications. She has a diverse background in media,
not-for-profit management, advertising sales and

development, media production, marketing research and
strategy, brand positioning, website development, event planning,
and social media marketing for a wide range of clients in the
retail, education, legal, hospitality and other sectors. She
was honored by the Pennsylvania Association of Broadcasters with
its award for Excellence in Broadcasting.
