Gannon University to Host Annual International Night April 7

Posted: April 6, 2018

Saturday, April 7 marks Gannon University’s annual International Night, fashioning the theme “Under the Same Moon.” The Moon travels around the world daily, exploring new cultures and meeting new faces. In its travels, however, it sees Earth as a united front of talented individuals – all different, but living under the same moon. This is what sparked the theme for this year’s International Night.

Each year, International Night brings traditional food and special cultural performances from around the world right to Gannon’s campus. As a celebration of diversity on both Gannon’s campus and in the Erie community, International Night offers students and community members the opportunity to discover different cultures.

This year’s menu features 20 countries representing their cultures including Japan, Mexico, India, Ghana and Nepal. In addition, 10 groups will be performing songs, dances and other musical performances from Nepal, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Iraq, China andBurundi.

Hinako Kojima, International Night publicity coordinator and international management major, expressed her favorite part of the event is the food from around the world.

“You get the taste of food from all over the world. It’s something that you don’t get many opportunities to try,” said Kojima. “They are all dishes that are close to these students’ hearts, and they are very special.”

Experience cultures from around the world with International Night on Saturday, April 7. Doors open at 6 p.m. with performances starting at 7:15 p.m. Tickets can be purchased online only at
