Gannon University Holds 15th Annual Light Up A.J.’s Way Event

Posted: December 2, 2016

Gannon University will light up the Christmas season with the 15th annual Light Up A.J.'s Way event on Friday, Dec. 2 at 6:30 p.m.

The event is held by Gannon's Activities Programming Board (APB), which partners with the Erie chapter of Make-A-Wish to help raise money for the organization. Each year, an honorary Make-A-Wish child flips the switch to light the thousands of lights that have been strung on the trees throughout the walkway, turning it into a holiday wonderland. This year the students raised $1,500 for the organization.

The students of APB have been busy planning for the event and are looking forward to sharing in the experience with the community. "It has meant a lot to me for the opportunity to plan the event for this year," said Jillian Chezosky, Kaleidescope Chair of APB. "I think it is important that APB supports an organization with such a good cause. It is a tradition at Gannon and a great experience."

There will be caroling before the lighting ceremony, with cookies and hot chocolate being served in Gannon's Beyer Hall following the event.

This event is free and open to the Gannon and Erie communities and will be held on A.J.'s Way is located between West Seventh and West Eighth streets between Peach and Sassafras streets.
