Gannon University Announces Exciting Week of Events

It's another big week at Gannon University and we wanted to give
you advance notice so that you can plan coverage for the week.
If you are interested in covering any of these events,
please call us and we will make it easy for you to build engaging,
Take Back the Night (7 p.m.) The 250 marchers
we are expecting to participate will hear speakers at various stops
during the event, which will conclude inside Gannon University's
Yehl Room where survivors and others are invited to speak out and
break the silence by sharing their stories. The event is free and
open to the public and is sponsored by Gannon University's Center
for Social Concerns.
APB Concert- Country Music Star Chase Rice and Special
Guests (7:30 p.m.) Students from Gannon University
Activities Programming Board and Edinboro University Programing
Board have teamed up to welcome one of country music's brightest
rising stars to Erie. Advance student tickets are $20 or $25 and
can be purchased with a valid school I.D. at participating
locations. Advance public tickets are $30 and $35, and day-of-event
tickets are $40 and $45. Tickets are available at www.erieevents.com or by

Celebrate Gannon (3 - 7 p.m.) Gannon University
undergraduate and graduate students showcase their scholarly and
creative work during the University's annual "Celebrate Gannon"
event in the Yehl Room of Gannon's Waldron Campus Center. The event
is the culmination of a year's worth of scholarship and research
and a day for the University to celebrate students' hard work,
excellence and accomplishments. Gannon's Ruskin, Florida campus
will host a comparable event earlier that day.
Diversity Day (8 - 11:30 a.m.) Gannon English
as a Second Language students will be working with Luther Memorial
School (grades 6-8) on April 19 and 20.
Gannon students are participating as part of the ESLP Listening and
Glowtopia (7 - 11p.m.) Friendship Green
and AJ's Way, adjacent to the Waldron Campus Center at 124 W.
Seventh St. Gannon University students shake off the rust of a long
winter with a weeklong of glowing events and celebrations beginning
with a high-energy kickoff event on Friendship Green (the rain
location is the lower lounge of the Waldron Campus Center).
Suturing Workshop (6 p.m., Zurn Science Center,
Room 237, 143 W. Seventh St.) -- Young doctors and medical
professionals in-training get a taste of the profession as they
learn the delicate and vital techniques of suturing from a team of
Saint Vincent Hospital physicians.
Senator Wiley's Veterans Expo Senator Wiley and
his staff are holding their third annual Veteran's Expo from 1 - 5
p.m. in the Hammermill Center, 620 Peach St.
Relay For Life (1 p.m. - 1 a.m.,
Recreation and Wellness Center, 103 W 4th St.) - Hundreds of
members of the Gannon University community will join together on 20
teams to help finish the fight against cancer. Various special
events will be happening throughout the 12-hour event.
