Gannon University will host its sixth annual Linked by Pink 5k
Run and 1-mile Walk, 9 a.m. Saturday April 9. Gannon's Doctor of
Physical Therapy program and rival Mercyhurst University's sports
medicine department, unite to sponsor the race as an effort to
raise awareness and support breast cancer awareness.
The race will take place at Gannon's Recreation and Wellness
Center and registration will begin at 7:30 a.m. Maria Loya,
director of the event, said Linked by Pink is a local organization,
which supports those throughout the Erie community who have been
affected by breast cancer.
A dedication wall will also be present for participants to
dedicate their race to family and/or friends who have been affected
by breast cancer. Awards will be given to the top three female and
male participants of the 5k run.
All proceeds will benefit the local breast cancer organization
Linked by Pink. According to the organization's website, Linked by
Pink is a supportive community where any woman diagnosed with
breast cancer can find comfort and support from others going
through or has gone through the same experience.
Registration for the event is open and is $20 per person.
T-shirts are included in the registration while supplies last.
Participants interested can visit the Linked by Pink website,
linkedbypink.org, and print the registration form under Upcoming
