Gannon University Sets Photo Contest

Posted: November 16, 2015

The World Through Your Eyes is the theme of the second annual photo competition celebrating International Education Week at Gannon University.

Photographs taken by 22 student photographers from Gannon were submitted for the competition. The 34 photographs selected by a screening committee can be seen at the Schuster Gallery at Gannon's Center for Communication and the Arts, W. Seventh and Peach streets, until November 25.

Students were challenged to interpret the theme in photography and to submit up to three photographs for the competition.

Three awards will be given at a public reception on November 18 at 5 p.m. First- and second-place awards will be chosen by a panel of judges drawn from University faculty and staff. A people's choice award will be determined by ballots that can be cast at the Schuster Gallery by the general public during normal gallery hours from November 10 - 17. Refreshments will be available at the reception, which is free and open to the public.

International Education Week is a joint initiative of the U.S. Departments of State and Education organized to celebrate the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide. At Gannon University, the celebration is an articulation of the University's commitment to preparing global citizens, a principle set forth in the current strategic plan and in the University's Mission.
