Gannon Athletic Training Students Collaborate With Community Medical Personnel

Posted: August 3, 2015

On Tuesday August 4 the Gannon University Masters of Athletic Training program will be collaborating with EmergyCare, Certified Athletic Trainers, Physicians and Sports Medicine Fellows from the surrounding area to review the new spinal motion restriction and equipment removal in regards to the sport of football. These new national changes to emergency protocol require a cooperative agreement of all parties involved with a spine injured athlete.

Practicing specific scenarios will teach these students how to remove a helmet, spinal motion restriction techniques and proper transportation of the patient. This collaboration will help certified athletic trainers adapt to new protocols on safely handling a spine injured athlete.
