Gannon University is one of the best colleges in the nation to
work for, according to The Chronicle of Higher Education's Great
Colleges to Work For®.
The results were released in the Chronicle's 2015 annual report
on The Academic Workplace, which recognizes colleges and
universities for specific best practices and policies.
Gannon University received recognition for confidence in senior
leadership having the knowledge, skills and experience necessary
for the success of the institution.
This year, 86 institutions are recognized as a Great College to
Work For, including 62 four-year institutions and 24 two-year
institutions. The primary factor in determining whether an
institution received recognition as a Great College to Work For was
the feedback of employees.
"All members of the Gannon community can be proud of our efforts
on behalf of students, the University and the community at large,"
said Gannon University President Keith Taylor, Ph.D. "The Mission
of the University compels us to service and leadership, and this
honor affirms our level of commitment to these ideals," he
That commitment was evident in several milestones achieved by
Gannon University during the past year. These included the largest
enrollment in two decades, the opening of several new academic and
student-services facilities on the Erie campus and the introduction
of new undergraduate and graduate academic programs, including an
occupational therapy doctorate at the University's new campus in
Gannon University was also honored this past year by being named
to the Carnegie Community Engagement Classification and the
President's Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll, as well
as being among the top ten North Region universities as a "Best
Value School" in the 2015 edition of U.S. News & World Report's
"America's Best Colleges."
All accredited U.S. institutions are invited to participate in
the Great Colleges survey, conducted by ModernThink LLC, a human
resources consulting firm in Wilmington, Delaware. For the 2015
survey, employees at 281 colleges and universities were included in
a two-part assessment process: a survey taken by faculty,
administrators and support staff, and an institutional audit to
capture demographics, policies and practices.
Created in 2008, Great Colleges to Work For is one of the
largest and most respected workplace-recognition programs in the
country. For more information and to view all the results of the
