The Gannon University Small Business Development Center suggests the best way to deal with the phrase "It's A Jungle Out There" is to go WILD.

WILD is the Women in Leadership Development (WILD) Conference, which will present its jungle-themed eighth annual celebration recognizing, supporting and promoting women in business on April 29 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Ambassador Banquet and Conference Center, 7794 Peach St.

More than 400 attendees are expected to attend "It's A Jungle Out There," where they will hear presentations on topics such as social media, financial management, entrepreneurship and leadership. Nine workshops and seminars will be offered in three thematic areas: women business owners/entrepreneurs, executive leadership and risking leaders.

The keynote speaker for the WILD Conference will be Janet Rose Wojtalik, Ed. D. Her research in the area of women and leadership won her Clark Scholar designation in the 2006 David L. Clark National Graduate Research Seminar in San Francisco, California. Dr. Wojtalik has presented her research in many settings including San Antonio, Texas at the 2006 UCEA National Convention; in La Crosse, Wisconsin at the United Council's 11th Annual Women in Leadership Conference; in Nashville, Tennessee at the 2005 UCEA National Convention, as well as, the 2005 PASA Woman's Caucus Conference in Hershey, Pennsylvania.

A highlight of the WILD conference is the presentation of the Legacy Award. This year's recipient is Colleen Moore Mezler, president and CEO of Moore Research services, an Erie-based marketing research firm.

The mission of the Women in Leadership Development (WILD) Conference, founded in 2008, by Gannon University's Small Business Development Center, is to empower professional and enterprising women with knowledge, energy and passion. This concept of connectivity is achieved by encouraging networking, providing leadership opportunities and supporting each other.
