Gannon University will welcome guest speaker Tom Fuentes, a former FBI assistant director, to campus for a discussion on "Law Enforcement, Professionalism and the Media," from 6 - 8 p.m. on Monday, April 20 in the Yehl Ballroom of the Waldron Campus Center .

Fuentes, president of Fuentes International, L.L.C, a consulting firm based in Washington, D.C., will discuss the importance of police-community relations among a growing diverse population. He will provide insight on the media's coverage of incidents involving law enforcement professionals and how law enforcement professionalism is portrayed in the media.

According to Jerry Clark, Ph.D., assistant professor in the criminal justice program, the lecture will benefit students by providing an additional hands-on, learning experience.

" [This discussion] continues with the hands-on, interactive approach in the criminal justice program [at Gannon]," Clark said. "It's beneficial for students to learn by practical application and [to think] critically."

Fuentes is a frequent on-air contributor for CNN. The event is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be provided.
