Gannon University's student-operated radio station, 90.5 WERG, was honored with eight awards at the 75th Annual Intercollegiate Broadcasting System (I.B.S.) conference. The four-day gathering, held in midtown Manhattan from March 5-8, drew more than 1500 students and faculty advisers from college radio stations across the country.

The showing at the I.B.S. Conference extended a string of recent honors for the station, which won the "Best College Station" award outright in 2014, and also the prestigious Abraham & Borst Award for the Best College Station in the Nation.

Chet LaPrice, operations manager of 90.5 WERG and Deb Carlson, who worked at 90.5 WERG as a Gannon University student, presented the panel discussions "Programming Your College Radio Station" and "Station Underwriting." LaPrice also moderated the popular "Management Bootcamp" seminar alongside I.B.S. chair Len Mailloux of Simmons College. Eight current Gannon students traveled to New York with LaPrice and Carlson.

"It's a continuing testament to the drive and ambition of our students, who are creative writers, producers, and performers," LaPrice said. "The stage in New York City is The Stage-the one where every creative person dreams of being recognized."
