'Tis the Season to Light Up A.J.’s Way

Posted: December 5, 2014

Gannon University is flipping the switch on the Christmas season with the annual "Light Up A.J.'s Way" event at 6:30 p.m., tonight!

A child from the Make-A-Wish project will turn on the hundreds of lights that illuminate symbolic Christmas trees in A.J.'s Way, located between West Seventh and West Eighth streets, across from the Waldron Campus Center.

Both the Gannon and Erie communities are invited to attend the event, which is sponsored by the students of Gannon's Activities Programming Board (APB). Donations will be collected for Make-A-Wish, and students from APB and the Dahlkemper School of Business will present Make-A-Wish with checks representing donations collected through campus fundraising projects.

All are invited to gather in the Waldron Campus Center immediately following the event for hot chocolate and cookies.

David Batistig, a sophomore pre-med chemistry major and lead student chair for the event, emphasized the importance of students attending the event for social and spiritual growth.

"It is a nice way to relax, come out for a good cause and appreciate the scenery," Batistig said. "It is also a nice way to reset and get mentally prepared for the last two weeks of the semester."
