Gannon University’s Social Work Club to Host Annual Christmas Dinner

Posted: December 5, 2014

Gannon University's Social Work Club will host its 37th annual Christmas Dinner from 2-4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6.

The event is free and open to the public and will be held in the Beyer Hall cafeteria, located at 628 Peach St. It is an example of Gannon University's focus on service and volunteerism, and is designed to bring holiday cheer to under-privileged Erie residents. Last year, approximately 700 persons were served.

The Social Work Club raised several hundred dollars for the event by selling pies donated by club members, faculty and staff of the University.

"This is an opportunity when Gannon University shows how generous it is, which is amazing. The amount of donations in time, money and goods is amazing," said Parris Baker, Ph.D., director of the University's social work program.

Attendees will be treated to a full turkey dinner and will be able to meet with representatives from local health and human service agencies. The event will also include a special visit by Santa Claus for the kids in attendance.
