Metz Culinary Management of Dallas, Pennsylvania has made a $5,000 corporate gift to support Club Fit, a healthy lifestyle and living initiative at Erie's East High School.

Club Fit is an after-school fitness program, and offers instruction in overall wellness, health education and healthy food options to facilitate success in participants at many levels including self-confidence, self-esteem and positive behaviors and academic success.

Since the program's inception, 95 percent of the students involved in the program maintained or reduced their weight, while more than 60 percent of participants went on to participate in athletic programs offered at the school.

Begun in 2012, Club Fit is a part of the Erie-Gannon Alliance to Improve Neighborhood Sustainability (Erie-GAINS) initiative.

Jim Dickson, Metz senior vice president of education and corporate dining, says the partnership between Metz and East High was a natural fit. "Metz has a long-standing partnership with Gannon University and the Erie City School District, so we were excited to have the opportunity to support the Club Fit initiative." Dickson added, "We felt it would be a great way to support our long-term partners and support the health and wellness of the Erie community."
