Hello and welcome to my faculty page :)
Let me introduce myself...I am Carol Ann Amann, and am currently an instructor for the Villa Maria School of Nursing. Prior to becoming an educator I have worked in a variety of settings as a nurse...that is the beauty of our profession, it can and does lead you into a myriad of career paths! During my Masters preparation it became more and more evident that teaching in a professional nursing program was to be my passion, which led me to my current position at Gannon University.
I have lived in the Erie area for the great majority of my life, minus a few years while serving in the Army...it has been said even though you leave Erie, if you were born here, you always come back, and for me I guess that is true.
I have a passion for exellence in nursing, my roots began humbly as a nurses aide, then a Licenced Practical Nurse, to an Associate Degree Resigstered Nurse, to holding a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (the fist college graduate in my family), to a Masters Degree in Nursing. It was at this point when I thought my formal education would end...but how wrong I was. In addition to my family and teaching responsibilities, I am currently a PhD student at Oklahoma City Unversity, Kramer School of Nursing.
I have varied hobbies, and it includes travel, spending time with my 2 children and....American and Military History is my true untold passion. Somehow, even in my healthcare/nursing lectures I can always find a way to inject a little history!
So welcome to Gannon University...if I can answer anyquestions, please contact me, in fact I look forward to hearing from you!
