Hello, and thanks for taking the time to read this. As a graduate of the Villa Maria School of Nursing, I am excited to share and play a small part in your educational journey!
My nursing career started prior to graduation when I was a nurse's aide at a local hospital in the postpartum unit. My senior year at Gannon, I found my love of wound care, and knew someday that was what I wanted to do. Following graduation, I was a floor nurse on a very high acuity ortho/neuro/trauma unit, where I cared for anything from gun shot wounds and knee replacements to seizures, strokes and confusion. After 12 months there, a position in the outpatient wound center opened. I then got my Wound Care Ceritifaction (WCC) and was the charge nurse for almost five years. I then took a position as the clinical nurse manager for a different healthcare organization and was an active participant in the implementation process opening the wound clinic. I held that position for 18 months, then took a promition to Program Director, which is my current role. Responsibilities of this include supervision of all clinical staff, collaboration with billing, accounting, and finance, community education with all/any phsycians, healthcare professionals, and general community members about the great work done in the wound care center, fostering healthy professional relationships with hospital partner executives and a larger corporate office, in addition to ensuring high quality and safe patient care is provided to every patient, everyday. Throughout my professional career I have always been able to precept and teach students from multiple disciplines, medical residents and physicians and love every second of it! I am honored to be a part of the Gannon University/Villa Maria School of Nursing adjunct faculty!
At home, I am a wife to a very supportive husband of 7 years, a mother to three beautiful healthy children, girls ages 11, and 7, and a little guy that is 7 months old. I am also a Dog Mom to an 8 year old English Bulldog, and a 4 year old Boxer. In my spare time, I enjoy game and movie night with the family, cooking, and spending time with friends. I am also an advocate for lifelong learning and love learning new things, meeting new people, and expanding my knowledge both in and out of the realm of nursing.
I am looking forward to meeting you and assisting you in your nursing education journey!
