St. Albert the Great Lecture
The philosophy department would like to invite you to the annual
St. Albert the Great Lecture.
Each year, a Gannon Faculty member shares their wisdom or
research on a theme of their choosing to honor the patron saint of
philosophers. On Wednesday November
28th at Noon in WCC 219, Political Science
Professor, Dr. Mark Jubulis will speak on "Freedom in the Catholic
Intellectual Tradition," all are welcome. St. Albert the
Great was a 13th century Dominican who taught at Paris and
Cologne. In the Catholic calendar, he is celebrated on
November 15, and so here is a quote from the tradition to
share in the spirit of St. Albert the Great. (Note though his feast
day is November 15, the lecture is on the 28th of this
month.)
"There are some who desire knowledge, that they may build up the
souls of others with it; and that is charity. Others, again,
desire knowledge that they may themselves be built up thereby; and
that is prudence."
(Bernard of Clairvaux, 1090-1153)
