ESGP students work at GE Transportation facilities and have access to all of the company's technical facilities for their work

To promote learning and hands-on experience, the department maintains four labs and a cross-disciplinary lab (automatic control lab) that cover subject matter that applies to learning from the freshmen level to senior level. Each lab consists of both hardware and software systems.
Automatic Control laboratory, Z101
This is a cross-disciplinary lab used by both the ECE students and the ME students. It is maintained by the ME department. The total area of the lab is 1420 sq. ft. This lab was developed by the mechanical engineering faculty over the past decade and includes PC-based data acquisition equipment for each work station. Several pieces of equipment were designed by students. The main equipment used for instruction includes:
- PC-based educational control products rectilinear servo control system
- PC-based educational control products rotational servo control system
- PC-based mass/spring/damping system for transient response*
- Mass/spring/damping system for frequency response*
- Feedback Corp. modular rotational motor velocity control system
- Bytronic inverted pendulum control system
- Feedback Corp. magnetic levitation control system
- Electro-hydraulic servo control system*
Circuit Laboratory, Z331
- The circuit laboratory is used for two circuit courses (ECE229, 241), Intro to Electrical Engineering Lab (ECE232) and digital logic design (ECE 141) class. The total area of the lab is 1098 sq. ft. The main equipment that used for instruction includes:

Microprocessor/Digital Logic Laboratory Z316
- This laboratory is used for microprocessor (ECE342, ECE348), VHDL (ECE22), Embedded Kernel (GE511), Digital Control (GE687), VLSI (ECE22), and digital logic courses (ECE346). The total area of the lab is 1378 sq. ft. The equipment list includes:

Electronics Laboratory Z315
- Most of the existing equipment in electronics lab is adequate for traditional instructional purposes. This lab is primarily used for Electronics I and II (ECE322 and ECE334). The total area of the lab is 1394 sq. ft. The main equipment used for instruction includes:

Electric Machine/Power Electronics Lab Z330
- This lab is used for supporting instructions in electric machines (ECE325) and power electronics (ECE465). Most of existing equipment is in good shape, except the 20 digital multimeters need to be replaced in the future. The total area of the lab is 1336 sq. ft. PC Laboratory, Z314
- This laboratory supports the department with various software packages for general use by students at all levels. The total area for this lab is xxx sq. ft. Table B6.7 gives the major equipment used in this lab. Since this lab is used by all students for their projects and homework as well as some lecture presentations, the equipment in this lab receives higher priority in updating and maintenance. The equipment list includes:
