Graduates of Gannon’s engineering programs have historically experienced a 100-percent placement rate in either employment or graduate school. Gannon University has received National Science Foundation (NSF) funding which is used to award approximately 25 scholarships per year, each renewable for up to four years, through Gannon's Scholars of Excellence in Engineering and Computer Science (SEECS) scholarship program. Gannon engineering students routinely participate in undergraduate research projects, and design systems used in research and private industry in the Erie area. Gannon offers over 70 undergraduate degree options to choose from in a variety of disciplines, from business and engineering to humanities, education, the sciences and health professions. The undeclared program assists students in identifying personal interests and career objectives that will help determine a major. A four-year career plan is offered to every student, along with career assessments such as the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator and the Strong Interest Inventory. Nationally, between 30 and 40 percent of incoming freshmen are unsure of a major when they enter college. It is also estimated that 50-60 percent of students change their majors, and many do so more than once. You Will LearnThe undeclared option allows students the ability to explore personal interests and major/career opportunities both one-on-one and in a group setting with an advisor. Undeclared students will initially be scheduled for a mix of liberal arts core classes and classes of interest, providing the time needed to explore possibilities and make an informed decision on a college major. Undeclared students will be encouraged to declare a major by the end of freshman year. Students interested in a major in the health sciences, education or engineering are advised to fully explore their eligibility for these majors prior to registering as an undeclared student. Undecided Engineering In the College of Engineering and Business, students can earn bachelor’s degrees in the following engineering fields: biomedical, electrical, environmental, industrial, mechanical and software engineering. Each engineering program asks for a minimum overall GPA of 3.0 as well as a science and math minimum GPA of 3.0. A minimum SAT score of 1090 (new SAT); 1010 (old SAT) or a 22 ACT composite score is also required for interested applicants. The engineering curriculum is designed so that students take core engineering courses common to all areas of engineering before being admitted to their particular area of focus without affecting the student’s ability to graduate within four years.
