GU Risk Management and Insurance Facts
Gannon is the only university in northwest Pennsylvania offering a major in risk management.
Gannon’s risk management program offers courses in risk management and insurance, commercial liability, workers’ compensation, claims adjusting and administration and management of health care.
Qualified juniors at Gannon may choose to pursue an accelerated MBA program and complete both their undergraduate and graduate degrees in just five years, rather than six.
Academic and merit scholarships for risk management majors are available through the Business Excellence Awards.
During their senior year, business students participate in an internship to acquire hands-on, real world experience. Gannon’s centrally located downtown campus provides easy accessibility to the area’s largest employers and nonprofit organizations.
Major Facts
Depending on the position and organization, salaries for risk managers can range from entry-level salaries of $28,000 to $44,000, to middle- and upper-levels of $48,000 to $135,000.
About the Program
The program is housed in the Gannon University Dahlkemper School of Business Administration.
Students in the program interact with students and professors in the fields of accounting, business administration, entrepreneurship, finance, international business, management, marketing, risk management and insurance, and sports management and marketing.
The Dahlkemper School of Business Administration at Gannon has received accreditation from the Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP), making Gannon the first business school in northwestern Pennsylvania with both undergraduate and graduate programs that are nationally accredited.
All Gannon business students have the opportunity to participate in many professional business organizations, including: the Gannon Accounting Club, Student Investment Trust, Alpha Kappa Psi Professional Business Fraternity, Gannon Advertising Club and the American Marketing Association.
