Working in collaboration with NASA and many other teams across the country our Gannon High Altitude Ballooning Team has an ultimate goal of capturing a live streaming video and still images of the first total solar eclipse to cross the United States in 38 years. April 2017 -- Engineering student, Maia Mackeller, was
featured on WERG during open house on April 22, 2017.
She was interviewed about the student experience and the Nationwide

April 2017 - 2017 IEEE Region 2 Student Activity
Conference: Dr. Yong-Kyu Jung and four ECE students
attended the 2017 Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers
(IEEE) Region 2 Student Activity Conference (SAC) held in Rowan
University, NJ, April 7-10, 2017. There were 10 competitions and 7
workshops in the 2017 IEEE SAC. Our students competed in two
competitions, the PICO conference and the brown bag circuit
competitions. The team of three seniors, Ryan Mong, Theodore
Rogers, and Dylan Szczepanski, competed in the PICO conference,
which is the student paper competition. The students competed in
and received a trophy for the 2nd place. As the fun facts of the
conference, (1) there were 298 attendees from 27 Universities; (2)
the first time attendees from 7 Universities, including Case
Western Reserve, Carnegie Mellon, George Washington, and University
of Delaware; (3) the Farthest traveled student group drove 503
miles from University of Cincinnati; (4) the total miles traveled
were 6664.4 miles.
